Medical Coding and Auditing Manager

The healthcare field continues to rapidly advance, and become more complex and interconnected.  We are here to support our Clients by providing superior revenue cycle management.  We are hiring a Medical Coding and Auditing Manager to lead a team of credentialed experts to assist them and our Clients to perform at the highest level.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a growing staff, currently 2 supervisors and 12 medical coders.

  • Completion of chart audits of staff production, results presented to the CEO and at times, the client.  This information will be used for employee reviews as well.

  • Plan, organize and delegate workload to staff, ensuring at all times the work is distributed and performed at the highest efficiency and accuracy.

  • Perform annual staff and revenue analysis, provide budget plan to Accounting Department.

  • Recommend staffing and budgeting requirements necessary to maintain effective service within the department.

  • Responsible for the training of staff through the Supervisors and handling the entire HR function of coding staff including hiring, termination, discipline and performance reviews.

  • Documentation training of providers including audit of deficiencies and follow-up of deficient accounts.

  • Coordinate with Compliance and HIPPA department to perform audits for specific clients and staff as deemed necessary by the department.

  • Completion of Chart Audits for non-related third parties as needed.

  • Presentation of audits, follow-up and steps put in place to decrease deficiencies and increase revenue.

  • Collaborate with CEO to increase auditing revenue, and client base.

  • Ensure workflow, training, and processes are compliant with Federal and State Regulation.

  • Remain current with industry changes, providing coding and auditing staff with knowledge of such changes.

  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle Manager to ensure all CPT and Diagnosis Codes are billed properly, provide support to assist with coding related issues, physician or provider inquiries.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Coding certification through an accredited  organization, including Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or Certified Professional Coder  (CPC) through American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)

  • Auditing education and certificate including Certified Medical Audit Specialists (CMAS) through the American Association of Medical Audit Specialists (AAMAS) or the Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) through the AAPC.

  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience, specifically in a  healthcare field

  • Three (3) years of training experience, specifically in the healthcare field, including individual and group setting training

  • Two (2) years of coding experience with a focus on E/M Coding

  • Experience in working with various electronic medical records (EMR)

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience in conducting presentations with executive level individuals and with preparing, interpreting and presenting statistical data.
